Story One.
It was tonight. My friends and i were going to do it. Our first break in. It was out teacher who gave us the idea. It was almost as though she was daring us to do it. She had said that the school had the best security system ever. No one could break in. No one, she said. We are not ‘no one’. We were going to do it. We waited one week. We wanted to do it on a friday night. We planned it right. First we marked our route. We were going to climb in, make our way up to the rooftop. And we were all going to leave a mark there. A mark of victory. Somewhat like planting a flag. We took note of all the cameras in our chosen route. We decided to avoid cameras as much as we could. We all dressed in black and put on black snow caps. All 3 of us. Friday night. Outside the school. Okay. I went in first and the other two followed. We climbed over the gate and into the locked school. Nothing happened. So far so good. We went on. We stuck to our plan. We reached the rooftop. We drew some graffiti on the walls on the rooftop. We could see everything from up there. Then, we saw something that freaked us all out. Five-oh. The police had arrived. The teacher was not kidding about the silent alarm. She had said that the school gate was armed with silent alarms. We had to get out real quick. We got down from the roof top. We were on the third floor. We saw two policemen enter the school. No time to panic. We needed a way out. We snuck to the back of the school. The gate at the back was like 10 feet high. No other way out. We all climbed up the gate and down the other side. We ran as fast as we could away from the school. We then sat down at a void deck about 6 blocks away panting. We looked at each other, and we laughed.
Story Two
I was running as fast as i could. I had no idea what i had done. I had been running for about five minutes now. I was sweating so much. I couldn’t remember when my stamina had actually lasted me this long. Adrenaline can do great things i guess. I was trying to hide, but no spot was good enough. I guess it’s true, what they say. You can run, but you can’t hide. I really couldn’t hide. I mean, i could have, but i didn’t try. A good hiding place would probably be a dead end. What if he found me? And if it wasn’t a dead end, it just wasn’t good enough. And how come when you really want people to be around, all you see are really old people walking around. Not even a single car on the road. It was a deserted street. An old street. I should have never come to this place. What if i got killed? What was the last thing i said to my mum? How many things have i left undone? I couldn’t die! Many such thoughts were running through my mind. I could say my life was flashing before my eyes. But before that, a headlight flashed before my eyes. It was a taxi. And it was empty. I flagged it down. It stopped. I got in. And i never saw that crazy indian man ever again.
Ah, fun to read, but hard to say. I believe you’ve been scared before, but do I believe you’re exciting enough you life life on the run from the law? Hmmmmm….. I think number one is true.
ps- Were you actually the crazy Indian man?
